My commitment to my marriage. This entails repurposing time I have mentally earmarked for creative writing in order to complete the unending stream of Honey-Do projects submitted by my dear spouse. Since my dear spouse is employed at a job involving what she considers to be backbreaking labor, whilst I am unemployed and sitting around all day doing absolutely nothing (in her view), I have a certain lack of moral high ground from which to tell my dear spouse to take her list to a nearby lake, clutch the list in her dainty, overworked hand, and jump in. Perhaps--just perhaps--this might change if I ever successfully submit one of my works to a publisher who actually pays me with coin of the realm upon publication [unlike a certain Almanac(k) edited by a Giant Squid that I could name].
