Staff

The Fiction-Writing Directorate, of course, is Vast, with Staff and Agents in every Corner of the World, diligently pursuing their Important Missions. The Excellent People below have taken Critical Time from their Battles against the Dark Forces of Unwritten Words to help with our Brave new Interwebs presence. Thank them–and be even more Thankful for the Staff and Agents not listed here, for their Silent and Thankless Struggles.

The Directorate works of necessity in the Shadows: these names are Pseudonyms, and the lovely Portraits have been altered to protect the identity of the Warriors.

ethelie2Ethelie. Director of Enforcement and Public Relations, and your gracious Hostess on the Interwebs. Ethelie does her best to Encourage Agents to Write their Words though Gentle but Firm Exhortations. She works closely with Gustav to provide Special Assistance to Agents who Struggle. Yet despite all her Valiant Efforts, sometimes Ethelie has No Choice but to turn recalcitrant Agents over to the Beastmaster. The missing Limbs and Digits haunt her Dreams, but not very much.

gustave8Gustav. One bitterly cold Midnight many Years ago, a Directorate Agent found a silent and Large-Eyed infant abandoned in a Filthy and Dark Alley in the worst part of Buda-Pest. Touched by the poor Creature’s plight, the Agent wrapped the child in her Cloak and brought him to the Directorate. After much Consternation and Discussion, the child was named Gustav, and given to the Tender Hands of the Beastmaster to raise, for one of the Verbhounds had just whelped.  Young Gustav suckled at the Teat of the Verb-Bitch, tussled with the Puppies, and otherwise Flourished. Now he is one of the Directorate’s most Capable Agents.

lyda1Lida. As an Adolescent and Young Woman, Lida was given to the Worst Sorts of Dissipation and Distraction. A young Wastrel, she was a Common Sight in Theaters, Saloons, Science-Fiction Conventions, Dancing-Halls, Opium Dens, Coal Mines, Brothels, Wharves, Public Libraries, and every other Den of Iniquity imaginable. She was the Fortunate Beneficiary of a lengthy and complex Mission orchestrated by Gustav, and finally came to see the error of her Ways. Lida is now a Fervent member of the Directorate, and devotes herself to teaching new Agents how to avoid the Horrifying Errors she has made.

The Beastmaster. When asked to provide a Pseudonym, the Beastmaster only grunted. The Beasts are always Hungry, and he does not have Time for such Foolishness as this.
